Dube TradePort

A landmark project for Brickcast, the company was honored to be awarded the paving works contract for the Dube TradePort Centre, also known as 29° South.

Situated north of Durban, this development was completed using a diverse range of Brickcast concrete pavers, including Harmony Jade, Roadliner, Stylepave, and Romanpave.

Brickcast was responsible for the construction of extensive roadways, pathways, foyers, and pedestrian walkways, all completed in preparation for the opening of King Shaka International Airport ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Today, the Dube TradePort Centre remains fully accessible to the public and stands as a lasting showcase of the durability, versatility, and visual appeal of large-scale concrete paving solutions.

King Shaka International Airport

In addition to the Dube TradePort development, Brickcast was also awarded the paving works contract for the construction of King Shaka International Airport, located north of Durban.

This high-profile project formed a critical part of the region’s infrastructure ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The project made extensive use of Brickcast’s paving range, continuing seamlessly from the Dube TradePort precinct.

Our products were used across a wide variety of applications, including sidewalks, pedestrian walkways, public gathering areas, roadways, and surrounding infrastructure.

Despite tight timelines and significant logistical challenges, Brickcast successfully completed the works prior to the opening of the airport and the kickoff of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Moses Mabhida Stadium

At the same time, Brickcast was proud to be awarded the paving works contract for the construction of Durban’s iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Commissioned as part of the preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, this prestigious project formed a key part of the city’s infrastructure development.

Brickcast was responsible for the supply and installation of extensive paving works surrounding the stadium, including pathways, roadways, sidewalks, and parking areas.

The project made extensive use of Brickcast’s Roadliner and Stylepave paving ranges, selected for their durability and performance in high-traffic public spaces.

Today, the areas surrounding Moses Mabhida Stadium continue to serve thousands of visitors, standing as a testament to the quality, strength, and longevity of Brickcast’s concrete paving solutions.

KDM Mall

In 2018, Brickcast was appointed to carry out the paving works during the construction of the KwaDukuza Mall, located in Stanger on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.

The scope of the project included the construction of a large parking area, along with associated sidewalks and pedestrian walkways.

Brickcast was also responsible for the formation of parking bays and road markings, delivering a functional and
well-organized layout suited to high-traffic retail use.

The project made extensive use of Brickcast’s Roadliner range of interlocking concrete pavers and was successfully completed in record time, ensuring the site was fully operational ahead of the mall’s opening to the public.

Today, the mall accommodates millions of shoppers each year, with Brickcast concrete pavers continuing to perform reliably in this high-traffic environment.

MSC Passenger Terminal

Brickcast was awarded the paving works contract for the construction of the MSC Cruise Passenger Terminal at Durban Harbor.

This prominent waterfront development required paving solutions capable of withstanding heavy pedestrian traffic and demanding operational conditions.

The scope of work included the installation of paving throughout the terminal precinct, encompassing walkways, pedestrian pathways, and parking bays, delivering both functionality and durability for a high-volume public facility.

The project saw extensive usage of Brickcast's Stylepave range of concrete pavers.

SALTA Sibaya

In 2018, Brickcast was awarded the paving and retaining wall works contract for the SALTA Sibaya estate, a major residential development located north of Durban.

This project formed a key part of the area’s expanding infrastructure and housing development.

Brickcast was responsible for the installation of extensive paving works, along with the construction of multiple dry-stack retaining walls throughout the estate.

Several of these retaining walls serve as structural foundations for residential housing, highlighting the importance of strength, precision, and reliability in their design and installation.

The project made extensive use of Brickcast’s Verticascade Retaining Wall System in combination with the Foundation Block System, as well as the Roadliner paving range.

During the 2022 KZN floods, these retaining structures withstood severe rainfall conditions, maintaining their integrity and reinforcing the safety and stability of the development.

This project stands as a clear demonstration of the durability and performance of Brickcast’s Verticascade retaining wall system under challenging environmental conditions.

uShaka Marine World

During the construction of uShaka Marine World in Durban, Brickcast was awarded the paving works contract for the areas surrounding the park.

This high-profile coastal development required paving solutions capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic and challenging environmental conditions.

The project led to the development of a new product specifically for this application — our Tuscan concrete paver — which was used extensively throughout the park for the construction of roadways, walkways, and pedestrian areas.

Today, uShaka Marine World welcomes millions of visitors each year, with Brickcast paving continuing to perform reliably in a demanding seaside environment.

Brickcast was awarded the paving works contract for the construction of the prestigious Pearls development in Umhlanga, located north of Durban.

Pietermaritzburg
CBD Rehabilitation

Brickcast was honored to be awarded the paving works contract for the rehabilitation of the Central Business District in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

This significant urban renewal project played a key role in upgrading the city’s core infrastructure.

The scope of work included the removal of existing tarred main roads within the CBD and the installation of heavy-duty concrete pavers in their place, along with the rehabilitation of surrounding sidewalks and pedestrian walkways.

The project made extensive use of Brickcast’s Roadliner paving range, completed in a red color finish, as well as the Stylepave range for lighter-duty applications.

Today, the Pietermaritzburg CBD continues to experience high traffic volumes, with the paving installations standing as a clear demonstration of the durability, strength, and long-term performance of Brickcast concrete pavers.

KGT Transport

A significant and ambitious undertaking, Brickcast was commissioned to construct a large-scale retaining wall system in Queensburgh, Durban.

This project required a robust and reliable solution to support demanding industrial use.

The objective was to create a level platform retained by Brickcast’s dry-stack retaining wall block system.

This platform was designed to accommodate heavy trucks and machinery, requiring exceptional structural integrity and long-term performance.

The project made extensive use of Brickcast’s Verticascade dry-stack retaining wall system, in conjunction with the Foundation Block system, to deliver the required strength and stability.

To this day, the retaining wall has remained steadfast under challenging weather conditions, serving as a strong demonstration of Brickcast’s engineering expertise and ability to deliver robust, large-scale structural solutions.
